I speak for myself, and I look back at the progression of my readings from when I first started to now, and there have been MANY learning curves. I always change up my style of how I work and invest in my development so I can offer the best service to my clients.  I look back and go, I cannot believe I used to say things like that, it’s a journey and one where I believe I’ll always continue to be the student. 

I have learnt so much about the spirit world and continue to learn everyday something new. One thing I have to make very clear is that there is a HUGE difference between mediumship and psychic, and that sometimes we can bring through a loved one in spirit but only be connecting on a psychic level.
Psychic, some may call it clairvoyance is when information is passed on about the person’s life journey (past, present, future), their lifes purpose and aspect of their spiritual journey.  Topics usually that are of interests are love, career and health for the majority of people.

Mediumship is when we prove the existance of the soul after death, and communicate with loved ones in the spirit world to pass on messages.  Evidence of that particular loved one should be given about their life when they were alive.  This could be what they look like, their personality, what they did, the relationship they are to you etc… but it should also include aspect of what they are doing in the spirit world and who they are with. 

Your loved one is spirit will give factual and evidential information, they are not psychics just because they are now in the spirit world. What’s important to remember is that as living people we have free will, and things can change even if you are given guidance on a psychic level, but your loved ones in spirit will not do this.

I often will ask in my readings, do you have any questions for your loved one, and a client might say ‘well can they tell me about this guy I’m going to meet?” the answer is NO. Yes they will be there to enjoy it with you when this all happens, but your loved ones do not have these answers.

I especially want to reassure you that your loved ones will be bringing loving and healing messages, not any messages that should create panic or worry within you. They cannot predict when someone is going to enter the spirit world, they are able to say something like ‘we are getting ready for nana to join us’ but they cannot give you a time frame or how it will happen. If you have ever received a message like that from me or from someone else, please pardon my lack of experience and understanding of my own practice, but this is a psychic message. It is not coming from your loved one.

This is exactly why I am soooooooooooooo passionate about making people aware of the difference and to set a standard for people to start taking responsibility for the words they choose to use when delivering a message.

I know that there are some clients that will hang on to my every word I have passed on, and the more I do this, the more it makes me realise how important my choice of words need to be. A loved one in spirit is just that, your loved one in spirit, and what they want is to communicate with you and have a chat about what they are doing in the spirit world, who they are with, how they are assisting you in your life and watching over you.

IF you receive anything that predicts the future from a loved one, IT IS NOT A MEDIUMSHIP message, it is PSYCHIC. However, if a loved one was to say, oh I see you’ve been looking at booking a holiday, well when you go I’ll be with you. That to me is not psychic. However, if they were to say, oh I see you’ll renovate the house, and get a dog and buy a blue car, that is psychic.

I love being able to give people guidance, I love the psychic part of my job, but I feel it’s important to understand how your reader is working and for you to leave feeling comfortable and reassured with what you have been given.

I’m in no way saying that I am perfect, I have my bad days just like everyone else, and this is my apology if you have ever felt like that leaving a reading with me.

So, I hope it will make you think carefully about how you are receiving messages from your loved one when you go and see a medium.
